Love Liana, Sincerely Kade by Allie Doherty is a contemporary romance written in a similar style (I guess) to the 1998 filmĀ You’ve Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Sort of!
Liana is a relatively successful romantic advice columnist and Kade is someone who goes to her for her guaranteed quick turnaround advice, they end up falling in love (again sort of) and along the way deal with their various issues.
I personally love contemporary romance, or at least some of it, and while this book had a great deal of potential, and I got through it very quickly (a lunch break at work, two short bus journeys and a few hours at home over dinner), the characters just weren’t it for me.
If you love the classic sort of enemies (in that they weren’t keen on each other but still attracted when they met) to friends, to lovers then you’ll really enjoy this.
I really wish that there had been more back story on the disastrous relationship between Liana and her wealthy, successful dad and I would have liked to have had the chance to get to know more about her sister Kit. I feel that the peripheral characters were a bit wasted.
Overall, not a bad book, but not one that I will be picking up again.
